The Circuit du Val de Vienne was born from the meeting of motor sport enthusiasts and inhabitants desirous of developing their territory. It came into being in 1990 and received its first competition in 1992. Since that time, every year, the major championships have made a stop in the Vienne. This fast circuit offers a track 3,768 m long and 11.4 m wide. Its configuration incorporates several straights and allows high speeds to be reached. Renowned as one of the most technical in France, it acquired in 2008 the only characteristic it lacked, namely a high top speed. By connecting two straights in order to obtain continuous acceleration of nearly 1,000 metres, the maximum speed in the GT category exceeds 270 km/h. Now equipped, the Circuit Val de Vienne is one of the essential venues of motor sport.
